“Some of the worst mistakes in my life were haircuts” ― Jim Morrison

Prepare a 5-minute, true, personal story exploring the idea of hair, and it can be in the most unexpected ways:

Hair can be the root of problems: too much of it, too little; too blonde, too frizzy, too gray; it can be a metaphor for life’s tangles and knots; it can grow in wrong places, cover up faces; fall out from age, rage, or illness; the trauma of the first gray hair, the last bad haircut; bald babies and boyfriends; new styles to navigate new life phases; hair dramas and mamas; the smells, sights, touches, sounds that hair arouses…

We’re letting our hair down for the night  - join us with or without a story!

At the end of the evening, the audience chooses their Favorite story and this storyteller is invited to the annual Eve of the Champs in June 2024 at the historic Theater im Delphi.

If you would like feedback on your story before you hit the stage: hello@THEbEAR-storytelling.de

If you’ve got a story, we got a stage!

IZZY AHRBECK

Tokyo-born to German and Canadian parents, Izzy's life has been fueled by curiosity and wanderlust. Having called 8 countries home, she currently resides in Berlin...for now. A lifelong storyteller, Izzy began creating "newscast" videos as a child, later becoming a freelance journalist and then immersing on film sets herself in Toronto's arts scene.

After working in film and music, she felt a lost sense of purpose, prompting a career switch and move to Barcelona for a master's in Sustainable Business & Innovation. Now, she is the Head of Community at Impact Hub Berlin and in her spare time, Izzy also hosts storytelling workshops for social impact. She joined the Berlin storytelling community in late 2020 and has won 5 "favourite story of the night" titles. But her favourite part about coming to THE bEAR is reconnecting with the very vibrant and diverse community of storytellers.
